You type 40 words a minute.
You talk 150.

Hold ⌘⇧Z, say the prompt, let go. The text lands wherever your cursor is: Claude Code, Cursor, the terminal, a PR description, Slack. Transcription runs on your Mac with MLX Whisper. Your audio never leaves your machine.

A small floating pill. Stays out of the way.

Made for developers who prompt all day

Longer prompts get better results

Coding agents do better with context. Nobody types three paragraphs of context, but you'll say them. Explain the bug out loud and paste the whole explanation.

Works in every text field

It pastes into whatever app had focus when you pressed the hotkey: your terminal, VS Code, Cursor, a browser or Slack. You don't need a plugin for each app.

Private by default

Whisper large-v3-turbo runs locally on Apple Silicon. Your audio and transcripts stay on your Mac, so it works on a plane with Wi-Fi off.

What people dictate

Optional: clean the text up with Claude using your own API key. It's off by default, and when you turn it on, the transcript text (never the audio) goes to Anthropic.

Install

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) on macOS 13.5 or newer. On first launch it downloads the Whisper model once (about 1.6 GB).

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/aniiirudhh/neuralnote-releases/main/install.sh | bash

Read the script first. It downloads the release from GitHub, checks its SHA-256 checksum, confirms it is signed with NeuralNote's own certificate, and copies NeuralNote.app into /Applications. That's all it does.

Why a script instead of a notarized DMG?

NeuralNote is made by one developer and isn't in Apple's $99/year Developer Program yet. That means it isn't notarized. A DMG you download in a browser would get blocked by Gatekeeper. A file fetched with curl isn't quarantined, so the app opens normally. The app is signed with a stable self-signed identity, so your Microphone and Accessibility permissions carry over when you update. Notarization is next on the list once sales cover the fee.

What the app sends over the network

  • License and trial checks, identified by a hashed hardware ID.
  • Crash reports, which contain the stack trace and app version. They never include audio or transcripts.
  • Usage statistics, only if you opt in.
  • Transcript text to Anthropic, only if you turn on Claude cleanup with your own key.
